About Vansbrosimningen
The Vansbro swim was first held in 1950 and is one of the four legs of the "Swedish Classic". The race is unique: three kilometres downstream in the Vanån and Västerdalälven rivers, straight through the town of Vansbro, with crowds on the bridges and river water at refreshing Swedish summer temperature.
The event week has grown to nine days with races for everyone, from kids’ swims to night swims in the dark river. For thousands of amateur athletes, Vansbro is the final, longed-for leg of the Classic – and the finish by the bridge is celebrated accordingly.
