About Rally Sweden

Rally Sweden is the WRC calendar’s only pure winter rally – and paradoxically its fastest: studded tyres bite so hard into ice and packed snow that average speeds beat many tarmac rallies. Drivers lean on the snow banks through corners, a technique that makes the stages look like downhill skiing on gravel.

Since 2022 the rally has been based in Umeå, with stages running through the forests of Västerbotten. The spectator experience is unique in motorsport: fire baskets, February darkness, and the sound of a rally car on studs approaching through silent snow forest.
