    The Swedish Christmas buffet is called julbord: herring, salmon, ham, meatballs and Jansson's temptation. Many restaurants near the markets serve it from late November.

    When do Christmas markets open in Sweden?
    The first ones open in early November, such as the Huseby Christmas fair. Most castle markets are held on the weekends around the first Sunday of Advent, and big ones like Skansen in Stockholm stay open every Advent weekend until Christmas.
    Do you have to pay to get in?
    It varies. Eksjö, Gunnebo and Uppsala are free, Skansen is included in the normal admission, and castle markets such as Kalmar or Bosjökloster charge adults around SEK 100 while children usually go free.
